Billy Strings Adds Additional Dates to Landmark Tour

Nearly 90 years after Bill Monroe laid out the foundation of the bluegrass discipline, the country subgenre is arguably reaching both its popular and creative apex, and it is doing so off the blazing fingers of music phenom Billy Strings. Generational in its scope, and Earth-shattering in its reach, it is arguably the greatest thing going on in live music, today or possibly even during any other era. Seeing Billy Strings live isn’t an opportunity at entertainment, it is a life-altering experience.

Billy Strings is not frugal with doling out opportunities to partake in that experience, and has graduated to arenas in many markets, and playing multiple nights in amphitheaters in others to satisfy demand. Already selling out most all of his tour dates into June—including two consecutive nights at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena later this month—Strings has just announced a slew of new dates throughout July and August.

Similar to the previous dates, these new dates are likely to sell out immediately.

Let’s not overlook what is happening here, and make sure we celebrate just what an achievement this is. Billy Strings got here not by selling out, but in many respects, doubling down on his bluegrass roots, including his latest album Me / and / Dad comprised of traditional country and bluegrass songs, recorded with his dad.

Billy’s appeal in the jam band realm has also opened up an entirely different audience to bluegrass music, and there is definitely a Grateful Dead aspect to his fandom of folks following him all around the country to see him play that has helped bolster his audience. But ultimately, this is bluegrass—an elemental building block to true country music—finding an arena-level appeal.
