illumi — billed as the largest sound, light and multimedia show in the world — takes over a field just west of Toronto in the GTA. Brought to audiences by the same team that created the high-end equine shows Cavalia and Odysséo, illumi will light up the night with millions of lights. illumi will be on display from September 14, 2022, to January 8, 2023 in Mississauga.

The details

  • The spectacle includes 12 imaginary worlds created by lights and tech;
  • The site extends across 600,000-sq-ft or ten football fields;
  • Over 20 million brilliant LED lights are used.

Along with the lights, cutting edge tech including HD projections, animatronic creatures, and innovative light structures will immerse audiences in an experience like no other.

“We are incredibly excited to call Mississauga the new home of illumi and spark the imagination, curiosity, and emotions of people of all ages across Ontario and beyond,” said Normand Latourelle, Creator and Artistic Director, Cavalia in a media release. “We are deeply proud of the immersive worlds we have created — all with the intent to bring people together to experience joy and wonderment in a unique, magical, and mesmerizing setting.”

Visitors to illumi will be taken on a journey through imaginative stagings. Some examples include:

  • The Tree of Lights, made up of 44,000 interactive light spheres, standing 47 m high;
  • The Infinite Poles, a frozen realm with penguins and whales;
  • The Colourful Animal Kingdom, a safari of lights celebrating animal life;
  • The Cavalia Horses, a tribute to Cavalia’s inaugural shows and their troupe of white horses.

The visual environments are each complemented by their own original soundtrack. illumi displays will also be decorated for Halloween and upcoming holidays.
