Classic FM’s audience has hit a record low, falling under 5 million listeners for the first time with over half a million people switching off since the start of the pandemic, according to new figures released by RAJAR (Radio Join Audience Research).
Released today, the figures cover the second quarter of 2022. Classic FM saw a decrease of 191,000 listeners from March 2022 dropping to 4.97 million. Launched in 1992, the RAJAR website lists quarterly listening figures on their website from 1999. This Classic FM’s smallest audience in those 22 years.
There is now an overall trend of decline for Classic FM, having posted record lows for three of the last four quarters. Classic FM has now lost 516,000 listeners from its pre-pandemic audience of 5.48 million in March 2020. (RAJAR did not report quarterly figures between March 2020 and September 2021 due to the pandemic).
