Classic FM has seen an increase in listeners, recovering slightly after dropping to their lowest audience figures in over 20 years, but is still behind pre-pandemic levels according to new figures released by RAJAR (Radio Join Audience Research).
Released today, the figures cover the first quarter of 2022. Classic FM saw an increase of 99,000 listeners from December 2022, reaching 5.16 million. Launched in 1992, the RAJAR website lists quarterly listening figures on their website from 1999 .
Classic FM has failed to recover to its pre-pandemic audience of 5.48 million listeners in March 2020 and is continuing the overall trend of decline for the radio station. (RAJAR did not report quarterly figures between March 2020 and September 2021 due to the pandemic). This is Classic FM’s 7th lowest audience in the 22 year history of RAJAR figures, and follows a record low of 5.06 million in December 2021.
