Death of a much-loved voice coach


Italian opera is in mourning for Nicoletta Olivieri, a highly regarded piano collaborator, conductor and casting director.

Engaged at all the leading Italian houses from 1980 on, and teaching at the leading academies, she worked with a celestial roster of conductors and singers, including: Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Daniele Gatti, William Christie, Nello Santi; Carlo Bergonzi, Luciano Pavarotti, Monserrat Caballe, Renata Scotto, Placido Domingo, Deborah Voigt, Juan Pons, Leo Nucci, Cecilia Bartoli, Renato Bruson, Piero Cappuccilli, Daniela Dessì.
