Django Blackheart are a five-piece guitar and harmonica band from Sydney, Australia who play a unique blend of blues & roots music, infused with a smattering of their drummer’s native, Brazilian rhythms. “Blues, Roots & Other Fruits” is their debut album containing 12 original tracks.
Their line-up is:
Tom Walker, is a Scottish, singer/songwriter, harmonica player and former actor, whose influences span the 50’s blues greats, folk, Captain Beefheart and ex-members of the Liverpool, cult, pop band The La’s.
Doug Brown is a melodic guitarist who focuses on complimenting the moment. and hosts one of Sydney’s most popular blues jams at Staves Brewery in Glebe.
Steve Saunders who previously studied music and sound production, is a jazz-inspired blues guitarist bringing warm comping and colourful melodic lines to the mix. He sound-engineered and recorded the drums for the album.
Mitch Mitchell has been playing bass in NSW bands since the late sixties including Grow Your Own, The Living Daylights (Kevin Bennett), The Torchsong Country Soul Band, The Red Rattlers and formerly The Durham Project.
Pedro Mello is a Pearl and Vic Firth endorsed drummer and drum & percussion teacher from Brazil where he played in many blues festivals, including, “Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues Festival”. After graduating in music production, he created soundtracks and incidental music for 20 years for Latin America’s biggest TV channel Globo TV.
