After a long break, on April 22nd, 2023 we will bring the Ambient & Drone sounds and other sounds from Midira Records back to the outstanding interior of the Christ Church Bochum.
The focus of the Moving Noises Festival is the coming together of like-minded people. Musicians, fans and labels enjoy a day together.
Thisquietarmy x N return to Bochum after embarking on their first tour together in Bochum last year. According to legend, the two musicians met for the first time at a Moving Noises Festival and agreed to play together at some point. The result can be heard on “Zerfall / Zerfallen” . In April there will be a new set that is tailored to the premises of the Christ Church Bochum.
Aidan Baker & BOW appear as a small drone orchestra and enchant with acoustic string instruments (including Cyrille de Haes or better known as Otto Lindholm on the double bass) of the BOW quintet and experimental guitar sounds by Aidan Baker. We are sure that we will witness the birth of a new album.
Houses of Worship is the new project by thisquietarmy and Hellenica from Canada. With guitar drones and electronic soundscapes, the two musicians create a maelstrom of sounds that you can’t resist. The sound is a bit reminiscent of a modern version of Fripp&Eno, but who needs comparisons. It’s best to listen to “Migration” yourself .
WERL is the longstanding duo of Aidan Baker and Tomas Järmyr (drummer with Yodok, Motorpsycho etc.). From time to time the two get together and create driving rock drone tracks. Whether experimental or more song-oriented, the two musicians manage to build up tension, which usually erupts in a storm of sound. They probably don’t even know what’s going to happen at the festival.
Dirk Serries is now on the move in more jazzy realms, but always returns to ambient for special moments. One of those moments takes place in April. Besides the release of his new solo ambient album “Fluctuation Of Being” at the festival, he will cast a spell over us with his guitar drones.
SARRAM creates driving drone sounds with guitar sounds, tape loops and various electronic effects. At the festival, SARRAM will present a completely new set and break new ground
Various influences flow into the ambient sounds of Hellenica , creating a sound cosmos that surprises again and again with subtle folk, blues or krautrock inserts. The festival day is also the release day of the new Hellenica album, which can be bought exclusively on tape on site.
