The Guardian has an obituary for Leslie Megahey, one of the BBC’s gatekeepers in an era when making serious films about music and arts was considered integral to the BBC’s mission. It seems so long ago.
Leslie, who has died aged 77, was head of Omnibus and Arena and, from 1988 to 1991, BBC television head of music and arts.
He was shrewd, responsive and nurturing.
There’s nobody like him left in the BBC.
