Grammy Award-winning, Japanese-Norwegian violist Masumi Per Rostad is an active performer and professor of viola and chamber music at the Eastman School of Music. As a former member of the Pacifica Quartet for almost two decades, he also founded DoCha, a chamber music festival in Champaign, Illinois.
Amidst his busy schedule, Masumi sits down with his friends and colleagues to discuss the ins and outs of their instruments in his Sound Post series.
After a successful Series 1 in 2020, The Violin Channel is pleased to present Series 2 of Sound Post! Episode 3 features violinist VC Artist Francisco Fullana. His instrument was built as an offering to god by the great luthier Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu in 1735 and was once owned by Fritz Kreisler.
A recipient of the 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant, VC Artist of the Week Francisco Fullana recently made his Vanguard Concerts debut with bandoneon player JP Jofre and guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas.
Recently signed with Arabella Arts for North American management, Francisco will make his Carnegie Hall Stern Perelman Hall debut on Sunday, November 20, 2022, where he will perform with the New York Youth Symphony and music director Michael Repper.
A recipient of the 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant, he is a former first prize winner at the Julio Cardona, Munetsugu Angel, and Johannes Brahms International Violin Competitions.
