The Best 5 Gambling Songs to Get Your Luck On

You could be in the middle of a poker game or a roulette session. Or you could be researching your sports picks at Match Center, analysing bookmaker offers and activities in many countries including Match Center Serbia and Match Center Romania. No matter what the circumstances are, the gambling experience is always better when there’s great music involved.
Gambling is a focal point of many songs. In some cases, it’s simply a metaphor for such things as love and life in general. In other cases, it is used at face value. In both cases, a good reference to gambling can put you in the right frame of mind. Let’s take a look at the best five gambling songs to help you get your luck on.

Still the Same – Bob Seger
One could argue that Ramblin’ Gambling’ Man should be here, but we’re going with another classic Bob Seger song instead. Released in 1978, Still the Same is one of Bob Seger’s most successful hits. The song expresses Seger’s admiration for a savvy gambler and his knack for winning. While the opening line of “You always won, every time you placed a bet” is one of the more memorable lyrics, a more educational passage comes a verse later when he sings “The trick you said, was never play the game too long”. This is an indispensable piece of advice for gamblers of all stripes.

Tumbling Dice – The Rolling Stones
One of the most popular tracks on the Rolling Stones’ 1972 album Exile on Main Street has to be Tumbling Dice. This is especially true if you happen to like dice games like Craps and Sic Bo. The funny thing about this song is that it was originally called Good Time Women and had nothing to do with gambling. Furthermore, Mick Jagger knew almost nothing about dice gambling games except for a few bits of jargon he heard while visiting various casinos. He simply changed the lyrics because he wasn’t happy with the original ones.

Viva Las Vegas – Elvis Presley
Few cities encapsulate gambling like Las Vegas does. And few performers embodied Las Vegas in the late-1960s and early 1970s like the King. While Viva Las Vegas mentions a variety of casino games including slots, blackjack, and roulette, it focuses more on the bright lights and lifestyle associated with Sin City. Perhaps the most relevant lyric comes in the first verse when he states “Got a whole lot of money that’s ready to burn, so get those stakes up higher”. Of course, “Lady luck please let the dice stay hot” is a gambler’s prayer commonly heard at Craps tables all over the world.

Easy Money – Billy Joel
One of the greatest things about this 1983 hit is that it serves a dual purpose. Not only does it get the ol’ gambling juices flowing, but it also reminds us of the cult classic comedy of the same name starring Rodney Dangerfield. Listening to Easy Money can prompt a few laughs even if you’re suffering through a tough session. Humming the line “I’ll either come back a bum or a king” will put things into perspective before you take your seat at the blackjack table.

The Gambler – Kenny Rogers
Well, you knew this one would appear on the list. After all, it is the ultimate song about gambling. Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler doesn’t just tell the story of his encounter with a wise gambler on a train. The song also dispenses some of the most valuable pieces of advice for all poker players: “You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, know when to walk away, and know when to run”. A later verse in which he sings “Every gambler knows that the secret to survivin’ is knowin’ what to throw away and knowin’ what to keep” also rings true.

We have only touched on the tip of the iceberg in terms of great gambling songs. There are so many others that it would be impossible to list and rank them all. Ace of Spades, Beatin’ the Odds, Atlantic City, and Rambling, Gambling Willie are just a few that come to mind. Be sure to load up your favorite gambling songs the next time you hit the tables. Hopefully, it will inspire you whether you need it or not.
