We recently spoke with competition founder Julian Gargiulo, “the pianist with the hair,” for an inside look at the rebranded initiative.

Four cello finalists, Gaeun KimJohannes GrayAyoun Alexandra Kim, and Caterina Isaia will compete and premiere competition founder Julian’s newly composed Cello Sonata, entitled, “The Time Between Moments.”

In addition to receiving USD $5,000, the winner will be the featured cellist at Carnegie Hall in the 2023 edition of the competition, and at the 19th Water Island Music Festival, in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Voting will be an equal aggregate of the following: a jury consisting of previous “Getting to Carnegie” winners, the “live” in-person audience at Carnegie Hall, and everyone listening online.
